Hospitalisation

Outpatient treatment centre

The outpatient treatment centre (CTA) accommodates patients whose treatment does not require them, or no longer requires them, to stay in hospital overnight; that is, patients undergoing chemotherapy, osteoporosis treatment, transfusions, care of adult rheumatic conditions, and more generally, everything that is not surgery and is classified under the "day hospital" heading. The CTA is therefore one degree removed from admission to hospital.

This type of care is now available thanks to changes in treatment, which is now less toxic, better knowledge of the techniques, and reduced patient risk. A change in attitudes (patients now prefer to return home as soon as possible) has gone hand in hand with this new medical opportunity.
