Hospitalisation

Adult haematology centre

Haematology covers diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders, including:

  • anaemia
  • problems with white cells
  • thrombosis and problems of coagulation
  • problems associated with transfusions.

Malignant blood disorders include:

  • The various chronic and acute forms of leukaemia.
  • Myeloproliferative disorders, in which the bone marrow is too active.
  • Lymphoma and Hodgkin's disease.
  • Immunocytomas such as multiple myeloma.

These conditions are treated in outpatients, in consultations and/or at the haematology centre, or in hospital.
